By 1934, 36,000 acres of NJ farmland were dedicated to growing tomatoes, but there was no ideal variety for both manufacture and market. And so the Rutgers Tomato was developed – beautiful in color, abundant in production, and delicious in flavor. The original line of Rutgers tomatoes has since been lost, but derivatives are still extremely popular among home growers. Now Rutgers has introduced a new variety and called it the Rutgers 250, to honor the founding of the college. You can sample it and other varieties at Valley Crest Farm. Our heirloom, cherry and slicing tomatoes are available at all of our farmer’s markets. You won’t believe the flavor! They are simply delicious. Look for bulk pricing on our tomatoes!
Don’t forget that there are just 2-3 weeks left in peach season! Now is the short time when you can come out to pick apples AND peaches! So stop by, explore the farm and enjoy our delicious produce!
