What's Happening At The Farm

Monthly Archives: March 2018

Welcome Spring!

Winter is officially behind us (except for the occasional snowstorm) and we are gearing up to welcome you back to the farm for fresh, nutritious produce. This year is particularly exciting as Valley Crest offers a CSA for the first time! As a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) member, you join the farm in its journey by paying an up-front fee at the start of the season and get to pick up your share of produce all season long! If you enjoy the delicious, naturally-grown produce offered by Valley Crest, you will LOVE being a member of our CSA! To read about the various share sizes and the way our CSA is set up, check out our page about it here: http://www.valleycrestfarmnj.org/community-supported-agriculture/

If a CSA membership is not for you, don’t fret…we have seeds in the greenhouse, growing up into strong, productive plants to sell at our weekly farm stand! We will have all of your favorites from last year in addition to some new varieties! A new row of strawberries will yield some tasty new fruit this year and we are bringing in brand new apple varieties including Braeburn, Gold Rush and some cider varieties.

Kids will have lots of opportunities to learn about farming, participate in harvesting, farm-to-table activities and explore nature in this year’s summer camp- the Farm N’ Nature Retreat! This summer camp gives children ages 8-11 the opportunity to camp, hike, swim, and so much more. Registration is available now!! Don’t miss out on the opportunity of a lifetime for your child!
