Nature often influences art and art allows us to appreciate nature. This series will study the relationship between the two. This series is intended for ages 10- 14. If you wish to sign up for just one class, single tickets are available for $12/ class or $10/ class if you register at least two children. Week One. 9/19/17- Watercolors. Explore Valley Crest and learn about some of the natural features on the farm. Discuss the use of watercolors and how they have been used to represent nature in the past. Create your own watercolor of a favorite scene at the farm.
Week Two. 9/26/17- Poetry. This week we change gears to explore the art of word. Poetry in its many forms may be used to demonstrate the beauty and balance of the natural world. Discuss the forms poetry may take and practice them.
Week Three. 10/3/17- Charcoal. How does one express the vibrant colors of nature using only charcoal? Explore the use of charcoal and how to work with this medium to represent some aspect of nature.
Week Four. 10/10/17- Eco- Art. Use nature to create art. Discover the emergence of eco- art and the concepts it is often used to represent. Produce your own masterpiece using gifts from nature.
Week Five. 10/17/17- Pointillism. This art form uses tiny dots of paint to create a larger picture. It is a unique means of forming a painting but lends itself well to the depths and blending of nature.
Week Six. 10/24/17- Sculpture. This 3D art form creates physical representations of natural elements. We will explore sculptures that describe the beauty of nature and methods of sculpting before trying it.
