Educational Internship Opportunity
for College Students
We are looking for interns to develop and present classes at Valley Crest Farm & Preserve this summer.
Valley Crest Preserve, located in Lebanon, NJ, is a non-profit organization with a three-fold mission:
- Grow and donate farm-fresh produce to help feed those in need;
- Educate children and their families on the importance of local farms and healthy eating;
- Maintain over 90 acres of preserved farmland for recreation and enjoyment by all.
Valley Crest Preserve Board Members will guide interns and facilitate course marketing and planning,
but interns will be solely responsible for developing lesson plans and class materials and presenting classes.
Interns will be expected to present a few classes at Valley Crest Farm & Preserve over the summer and possibly into fall.
For example, this could be a single class (1 to 2 hours) repeated four times OR four sequential classes comprising one course.
Classes could be about farming, nutrition, hiking, wildlife, ecology, native plants, or any topic that pertains to Valley Crest’s mission.
Interns should specify the target, age range and the ideal class size.
In the past, courses at Valley Crest have been offered for free unless there was a significant cost for course materials.
Once selected, interns would spend time on a detailed proposal, marketing, planning, and presenting the class.
Most preparation work can be conducted off-site, but interns should expect to be at Valley Crest for two planning meetings,
class presentations, and one wrap-up meeting.
