Buy Fresh - Buy Local! Our Philosophy: An Ecologically Friendly Farm
The connection between what we eat and how it affects our health is key to how we grow our crops at Valley Crest. With a push toward sustainability and healthy eating, Valley Crest has implemented IPM (integrated pest management ), a system which reduces chemical usage in the farm’s orchards by monitoring pest populations, disease symptoms and changing weather conditions. So nothing goes to waste, our farmers use manure and compost from the farm’s horse stables to improve soil quality when we prepare the ground for planting, which enhances populations of beneficial microorganisms in the soil, which is beneficial for crops and in turn, beneficial for us! Honey bees and pollinators play an integral role in farming. That is why Valley Crest hosts honey bee hives throughout the property, encouraging pollination for our fruit and vegetables. And speaking of fruit and vegetables, do we have an exciting year for you!
With a new staff of talented young farmers, we are planning a banner year with an array of delicious vegetables, crispy and juicy apples and peaches, and much more! A NEW farm stand will also be established at the 14 Allerton Road entrance beginning in mid-June when berries and spring vegetables (crunchy and sweet snow peas are now growing on our trellis!) will be available. Our plan is to also include other vendors at our farm market for local honey, baked goods, and more! If you prefer to "Pick Your Own," grab a bag and stroll through our peach and apple orchards to pick out what you like, beginning the last weekend in July through November 1.
So look no further than Valley Crest for the best in local produce for you and your family!
