Preparing for a Bountiful Season

Valley Crest Farm & Preserve is ready for summer!  As the spring comes to an end, our farm team is working exceptionally hard to ensure a bountiful harvest this year.  We welcome two new farm staff members, Alex and Sara.  Alex will be working once a week as she learns more about growing and agriculture. Sara, a Rutgers graduate, has come on full time with a background in soil science, CSA, and farming.  Sara is also interested in expanding our youth agriculture education programming.  We are all so happy to have these two wonderful ladies and thankful for their time and energy!

This spring also marks our first season working with our new manure spreader. This machine is used to develop healthy soil and provide important nutrients to our crops.  Farm staff is excited to use the spreader as a tool to help us continue to growing our vegetables naturally and without the use of synthetic products.

The farm is in constant change as we move towards warmer weather.  Our peach and apple trees are adorned with LARGE and healthy fruits.  A variety of berries have been planted and are on their way to being ready for an exciting season of Pick- Your- Own.  Finally, our vegetables are growing in, albeit a little slowly, and we are so excited for the first CSA and Farm Market.

Stay tuned for more updates!
