We are SO excited about the start of this peach season. After all, nothing screams summer like a fresh and juicy peach after a hot day on the farm. In addition to enjoying the peaches fresh from the tree – our team can’t stop talking about using them for a summertime dessert. Namely, peach cobbler. Topped with some cool whip or ice cream, this recipe
has had all of our mouths watering. Even better is how easy it is to make! Try it out and let us know what you think!
This Week on the Farm
Are you as excited about the sun FINALLY coming out as we are? Though the rain was very much needed, this nice weather is allowing us to catch up on the many tasks wet ground does not allow for – mowing, thinning, tractor use. That being said, even with the rain, the work never stops at Valley Crest. Our team spent this week catching up on equipment repairs, paperwork, and knocking off the ‘lower’ priority items that seem to live indefinitely on to-do lists.
Last Friday, four of us had the great opportunity to attend the Roledale Institute’s Annual Field Day in Kutztown, PA. It was wonderful. Our team attended a session on organic vegetable growing, season extension, organic orchard maintenance, organic pest management, and (my personal favorite) initiatives to bring local produce to individuals living with low income. We will be incorporating as much as we can from these sessions into our operations.
Finally, much time has been spent gearing up for our Peach & Dahlia Festival! We are SO thrilled to put this event on for our community. Peach & Dahlia will feature over 30 activities for families and festival goers alike and showcase many local organizations and businesses. You are not going to want to miss this!
